Connecting the Google Assistant to your WIFIPLUGs allows you to control them using the Google Assistant on your Android smartphone and also on your Google Home smart speaker.
Pre-setup note
Setting up the Google Assistant currently requires IFTTT. Please refer to this guide if you haven't already setup this feature.
After completing the steps in this article your Google Assistant may take a few minutes before you can use the new command. If your command isn't immediately available please try again shortly.
Step 1)
Open the IFTTT app and login to your IFTTT account.
Step 2)
Once logged in, go to the 'Search' tab and search "Google Assistant" to find the Google Assistant service.
Step 3)
Select the Google Assistant service and press 'Connect' to begin linking your Google account.
Step 4)
Once your Google account has been linked, go to the 'My Applets' tab and press the add (+) icon in the top right corner.
Step 5)
Tap the 'this' button to select the applet trigger then search for "Google Assistant" to find the Google Assistant service.
Step 6)
Select the Google Assistant service then choose the 'Say a simple phrase' option.
Step 7)
Enter the command you wish to use. This is the phrase you would say to the Google Assistant to trigger your WIFIPLUG. For example, if you enter "turn the lamp on" the full command would be "Ok Google, turn the lamp on". You can add two more ways of saying the phrase if you wish.
Enter the response you would like to receive after using the command. This is the phrase would you would like the Assistant to say in response to your command. For example, "Okay, the lamp is on".
Once you have configured the trigger to your liking, press the tick icon in the top right corner to save it.
Step 8)
Tap the 'then' button to select the applet action then search for "WIFIPLUG" to find the WIFIPLUG service.
Step 9)
Select the WIFIPLUG service then choose if you would like the Google Assistant to turn your WIFIPLUG on, off or blink it.
Step 10)
Choose which device you would like to use with this applet using the drop down menu. Once chosen, press the tick icon in the top right corner.
Step 11)
You will now be able to preview your applet. Press the 'Edit title' button to change the name of your applet and choose whether or not you would like to receive notifications when the applet is run. When you're happy, press 'Finish' to complete the creation of your applet.
If you need to make changes, press the back button.
